Major Arcana cards:XXI The World

Fulfillment, Perfection, Mission Accomplished, A New Beginning

Card Interpretation

This is a card that symbolizes eternal and enduring success. You have arrived at the very threshold of triumph, where the Goddess of Success bids you wait with patience. It is only a matter of time before she ushers you through the gates of victory. Surrounding these gates lie all the joys and sorrows, triumphs and failures you have endured along the way. Before stepping into this paradise, it is vital to pause and reflect on the journey that brought you here. This card whispers a timeless truth: with a heart full of gratitude, you are destined to find happiness and joy in the beautiful world you have forged for yourself. At its core, this card represents fulfillment—it tells us that all things are achievable, all dreams can be made real, and nothing is beyond our grasp. Toil always yields its due reward.

The World represents the culmination of the cosmic journey, echoing the 10th Major Arcana card—the Wheel of Fortune. At its four corners stand the same lion, eagle, angel, and sacred bull. Yet in the center, instead of the spinning Wheel of Fortune, there dances a maiden within a laurel wreath. In each hand, she holds a wand—or perhaps a key—celebrating those who have reached the end of their path, or perhaps summoning them forward, guiding the victorious to the gates of wisdom to claim the key that unlocks lasting happiness. As the final card of the Major Arcana life journey, the World is also a new beginning. For when you step through those gates of wisdom, you will return to the state of the Fool, ready to strive once more for new wisdom and new life’s purposes.

Upright Position

When drawn upright, the card signifies: Completion, success, flawlessness, continuity, spiritual elation, having a lifelong purpose, mission accomplished, the arrival of fortune, a joyous conclusion, and an ideal partnership. In your career, your hard work will be richly rewarded. In your relationship, you and your partner will nurture a beautiful bond sustained by mutual commitment.

Reversed Position

When drawn reversed, the card signifies: Unfinished business, failure, inadequate preparation, blind acceptance, temporary setbacks, giving up halfway, spiritual exhaustion, stagnation, collusion, disharmony, and romantic disappointment. On your career path, formidable obstacles will stand in your way, leaving you dispirited and robbed of the drive to challenge them. In your relationship, promises will no longer hold meaning, and you will find yourselves accepting each other blindly. It would be wise for you both to communicate openly—do not let sorrow continue to linger between you.
