Card Interpretation

This card depicts a triumphant chariot that overcomes obstacles to claim victory. On the card, the conqueror stands in a powerful stance atop the chariot, showcasing his great achievements in the mortal world. Two lions, one black and one white, draw the chariot, poised to forge ahead at any moment.

This card is a symbol of strength, closely associated with power—it signifies success attained through perseverance. "Never give up" is the central theme of this card. No matter how many hardships and dangers lie ahead, you must press onward. In doing so, you will take control of your own destiny and that of the world around you. The victor on the chariot symbolizes the human soul, guiding the two lions that represent human will and instinct as they journey through time.

A valiant warrior, wearing an eight-pointed star helmet and armor, drives a chariot pulled by two sphinxes, charging forward courageously toward victory with unstoppable momentum. The black sphinx on the left side of the chariot represents rigor, while the white sphinx on the right stands for compassion. The two moving in tandem foreshadows the harmony of yin and yang—the prerequisite for pursuing victory: balance. The blue canopy of the chariot, adorned with a hexagram pattern, symbolizes the celestial bodies’ influence on the warrior’s success and also predicts the importance of hope in achieving victory. The warrior clutches a spear tightly in his right hand, a testament to his inner desire for victory, while the square emblem on his chest represents the element of earth, a symbol of the power of will. The pair of wings at the front of the chariot is said to be an ancient Egyptian totem, signifying inspiration, and the small shield beneath the wings is reputed to bear an ancient Indian totem that foreshadows the union of yin and yang. As the 7th card in the Tarot deck, the Chariot seems to suggest that the Fool, who has traversed a third of his journey, has transformed into a mature and brave warrior—clearing obstacles and forging ahead valiantly in the pursuit of victory.

Upright Position

When drawn upright, the card signifies: Success through effort, victory, overcoming obstacles, initiative, self-reliance, bold attempts, self-assertion, a young man, transportation, and excellent travel fortune. In your career, you will demonstrate remarkable competence and get things done efficiently. Your confidence and rationality will inspire greater trust in your clients, making them eager to cooperate with you. Emotionally, you are striving to keep your feelings in check—and succeeding admirably, which will allow your relationship to progress more smoothly.

Reversed Position

When drawn reversed, the card signifies: Defeat in disputes, conflicts, obstacles, rule-breaking, resorting to violence, a stubborn man, sudden failure, a delinquent youth, setbacks, and selfishness. Abandoning the principles you once clung to in your career will lead to a far more perfect outcome. Emotionally, you have lost your way. You no longer possess the calm you once had, and this has sown seeds of distrust in your partner’s heart. Perhaps it is time for you to reflect on your actions.
