Major Arcana: I The Magician

Creation, Communication, Knowledge, Power

Card Interpretation

The Magician holds a wand aloft, his right hand pointing to the sky and his left index finger touching the earth—he himself is the bridge connecting heaven and earth. On the table before him lie the Wand, Cup, Sword, and Pentacle, symbols of the four elements. He wears a red robe, representing passion and initiative, and a white undergarment, signifying inner purity and wisdom. His belt is a serpent, not a symbol of evil, but of wisdom and enlightenment. Above his head floats a horizontal figure-eight, the sign of infinity. In the foreground, red roses denote passion, while white lilies symbolize wisdom. The bright yellow background of the Magician card augurs potential for future success.

Numbered 1, the Magician marks the beginning of all numbers and is associated with communication. Among the 78 Tarot cards, it also serves as a link between the Major and Minor Arcana. Additionally, in astrology, the Magician is ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication. Thus, in practical divination, this card can represent all matters related to communication—whether verbal or written.

Upright Position

When drawn upright, the card signifies: Success, Determination, A good start, Perfect planning, Great room for growth, Exceptional intelligence, Active thinking, Rich imagination, A harmonious partner, or the appearance of a new lover.

When drawn reversed, the card signifies: Failure, Negative attitude, Hasty actions, Indecision, Mediocre ability, Lack of skill, Poor judgment, Lack of creativity, Stagnant love, or the need to monitor your partner’s behavior.

  • Relationships: Emotional emptiness, Frivolous romance, Unsustainable harmony, An anxious love journey, Feeling confined by marriage, Hot-and-cold dynamics, Falling in love against others’ wishes, Being hurt by a partner’s infidelity, or infidelity.
  • Career: You harbor speculative tendencies and hide behind a protective shell, fearing harm. Your attitude toward work has become somewhat distorted, showing aimlessness and lack of self-discipline. Weak willpower makes it hard to start, leading you down the wrong path. Insufficient knowledge increases the risk of being deceived or failing.
  • Finances: Misjudgment, gullibility, excessive optimism, and lack of restraint may lead to financial losses. Exercise caution and make rational decisions.
  • Overall Fortune: Your luck is relatively weak during this period.

Scorpio

Scorpio corresponds to the "Magician" in Tarot.

Scorpios are mysterious and elusive. They possess clear thinking, self-assurance, and unwavering confidence. People of this zodiac sign have a special interest in diverse and seemingly incompatible things—they enjoy exploring the essence of matters and distinguishing between them. Born amid the bleak autumn wind, Scorpios are rugged and stubborn; their somber personality and tense nerves can make those around them feel oppressed and confused. Their love psychology is often filled with contradictions. They have extremely sharp eyes, capable of perceiving and exploiting human weaknesses, advantages, and disadvantages.

Furthermore, their mysterious, extreme, and passionate nature often leaves a deep impression on others.

These traits are highly similar to those embodied by the "Magician" in Tarot.
